Dealing with Discouragement

We recognize that people are discouraged and full of angst about the declining state of the world. We believe that if we connect with people’s hearts, they will engage and fight and fight to rescue the future. We offer four things that encourage and empower people:

  1. An analysis of the situation leading to a clear understanding of what is necessary for change. We call this Climate Change Literacy. When we identify a problem it encourages us per a psychological principle: “Name it, Tame it!” If we can name the problem accurately, we can address it more effectively.
  2. Immediate effective actions people can take in solidarity with others to fight climate change. Taking effective action to address a severe problem is inherently empowering!
  3. Connection to a community of people who support each other in a common fight to rescue the future. Solidarity is the real super power. When people act together in solidarity, they are empowered and when we fight together, we win!
  4. When the FUDs (fear, uncertainty & doubt) get us down, inspirational poetry, literature, quotations, cartoons and ideas help us continue fighting and enjoying the life we have been given. THIS! is committed to sharing the inspiration we run across. Check out our Resources Section (https://thisiswhatwedid.org/resources/)
